The "Sustainable Energy Programme in Senegal" (PED III) is a technical cooperation project of the Senegalese Ministry of Energy, Oil and Mines (MEPM), financed by BMZ and implemented by GIZ. The project amounts to 7.500.000 EUR and runs from 01/2026 to 12/2028. The main implementing partners are, besides the MEPM, the Agence pour l'économie et la gestion de l'énergie (AEME), the Agence nationale des énergies renouvelables (ANER), the Agence sénégalaise de l'électrification rurale (ASER), the Commission de régulation du secteur de l'électricité (CRSE), the Compagnie nationale de l'électricité (SENELEC), the private sector and civil society. The aim of PED III is "to support the effective implementation of the Just Energy Transition by the main players in Senegal's public and private sectors at both strategic and operational levels".
