Advisory service for clean cooking activities

To effectively implement these activities and introduce innovative strategies, EnDev intends to contract consulting services that will deliver expert advice and technical guidance. Tasks to be performed by the contractor
The contractor is responsible for providing the following services:
Task 1 - Technical Backstopping of Ongoing Projects
- Participate in regular coordination meetings (jour fixe) with EnDev, BECT, and INNOQ to ensure consistent technical follow-up.
- Review progress and implementation challenges across ongoing clean cooking initiatives, providing expert guidance and recommendations.
- Support EnDev staff and especially BECT or INOQ in addressing stove performance, laboratory testing, and quality control issues arising during project implementation.
- Document recurring technical challenges and propose corrective measures or design adjustments.
Task 2 - Stove Design Review and Improvement (In Person)
- Assess existing stove models (charcoal, wood-fuelled, institutional) for design robustness, efficiency, and user safety.
- Review technical drawings, production methods, and performance data to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide written feedback and practical design recommendations to manufacturers and project partners.
- Support field and laboratory troubleshooting to address performance inconsistencies.
Task 3 - Development of New Cookstove Models (In Person)
- Collaborate with local producers, designers, and research partners in developing improved and higher-tier stove models.
- Provide guidance on optimal material selection, combustion processes, and durability features to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Participate in prototype testing cycles, providing feedback on technical performance and user acceptability.
- Document design iterations and support the development of standardized technical drawings and specifications.
Task 4 - Technical Assistance to Private Companies (In Person)
- Provide tailored technical support to selected clean cooking enterprises aiming to enhance product quality and production efficiency.
- Conduct brief diagnostics of production processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend technical improvements.
- Deliver company-specific reports and presentations summarising findings and actionable recommendations.
- Support companies in integrating higher-tier performance elements and aligning with market standards.
Task 5 - Efficiency Procedures and Higher-Tier Stove Integration (partially Remote and In Person)
- Develop practical procedures and operational guidelines to improve thermal efficiency and performance of locally produced stoves.
- Translate laboratory test results and ISO metrics into easy-to-use factory-level checklists for manufacturers.
- Collaborate with BECT and INNOQ to validate efficiency-improvement methodologies and ensure alignment with national standards.
- Facilitate stakeholder consultations to promote the introduction and uptake of higher-tier stove models in Mozambique (gasifiers", pellets or briquettes stoves).
Task 6 - Capacity Building and Training for BECT (In Person/Virtual)
- Design participatory training modules and materials for laboratory technicians, producers, and project implementers.
- Deliver in-person and/or virtual training sessions covering stove design, testing protocols, safety, and performance evaluation.
- Integrate practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises to strengthen applied learning outcomes.
- Collect participant feedback and incorporate lessons into updated training materials and curricula.
Task 7 - Support Adoption of the ISO Standard on Clean Cooking (Virtual)
- Provide technical input and written recommendations for INNOQ and relevant stakeholders on the adoption process.
- Develop and deliver targeted training sessions for producers, NGOs, and government representatives on application and compliance.
- Contribute to a draft roadmap and proposal for the national adoption and implementation of ISO clean cooking standards.
